The inevitable “goodbye” after friends and relatives visit, but you wish they could stay.
Like many of the songs on the album, this relies on the open bass E guitar string.  As it is not one of the strongest songs, musically or in arrangement, track placement becomes critical.  The demo originally followed “Losing My Grip” ... Grip is in the same key and has a pulsing full-spectrum polyphonic synth bass ... whereas Goodbye has a simple acoustic sound and seemed to lack any impact as a consequence.
