Greg: The passage of time has always been front of centre for me since I was a little kid.
I wrote this very early on Xmas morning (my birthday!) 2014, sitting on a bench looking out on the back garden.  Sort of ‘blues’, the whole thing took about an hour to ‘write’ ... using pen and paper!  A few of the original lyrics were improved later (after Martin correctly winced at a couple of original lines!).

 

The rock brass of band Chicago was a huge influence on me and I tried to emulate that feel, although true expression via MIDI is quite hard for brass 'instruments'.
The clock sound effect was an idea right from the start but I had to sort through dozens before I found one that appealed to me. The intentional sudden cut-off at the end still fills me with dread!
