The original lyric laid out a chain of events ... losing a job, losing a partner, and then losing the family. But changing less than a dozen words has made it more universal: just about relationships.

The original music arrangement was voice plus acoustic guitar. The current version adds:
• percussion,
• bass, electric piano, strings, choir, and vocal harmony
• the original ending had a half-hearted attempt at an acoustic lead. Lead guitar has never a strong suit for me, so this time I worked in a punchy Chicago-esque arrangement. I’d done similar on one track of each of the other home productions: Prescient’s Another Year and Flat White’s Frogs in a Pan.
