The 2002 original was just two guitars and two voices. A simple MIDI drum shuffle was concocted by the engineer at short notice ... we loved it! That version was deeply ingrained over 20 years and was the hardest by far to re-imagine. It languished for several weeks before the ‘Gospel’ approach popped out of the blue.

Changes from the original:

• Strict tempo
• Preacher prologue added: a new verse plus chorus both in minor key
• Percussion and real handclaps
• Picking plus strumming
• Samples of Gospel singing and utterances
• Slide guitar
• Organ
• ‘Choir’
• A new ‘funeral’ phrase before the outro
